(Swordsman Backstory)

Sword Section is a contemporary program based on ancient martial arts that is being offered in all three of the Saint Financial Group exclusive campuses. Like any other elective subjects, Swordsmanship is taught as a special interest class.

For SFG scholars, studying swordsmanship is very fulfilling. Some say they feel limitless physical power and strength. With the help of their diligent instructors, they learned the art of sword with perfect precision and focus. Above all, this program helped them to attain self-awareness and be able to control their inner fury.

Inside the campuses, Swordsmanship is more like dancing or theater acting – something students do to distract themselves from the pressure of academic life. Every instructor emphasizes that although this comes from an art with deadly nature, trainees should bear in mind that they may only use it against others for self-defense.

The greatest lesson everyone in Sword Section has learned is the message their Head Instructor tells them every day, “Although you can learn and understand swordsmanship by swinging a sword on your own, protecting others is your primary job. Stand in front of your team and command their action. You should lead and defend others. This is how a Swordsman displays his power.”

While training, there are students who sometimes ask questions, “In what situation is it acceptable for us to apply this lethal art and take life?” Students from Swordsman class are literally attracted to the charms of steel.

They are drawn by the sound of clashing blades and the glint of swinging swords. All are but curiosity and exciting drive until one student went missing.

Chi Ri Qing is one of the most promising Sacred Gate sophomore students. He is a trainee of the Sword Section Class. Like other swordsmen, he is always silent but overflowing with vigor and charisma. He is set to be the Deputy Leader the following school year, until one day, he missed his class and never returned to training.

His mom and dad were Physicists working for SFG. A day before his 18th birthday, he was called by the Student Director to inform him that both his parents died in an accident. Since then, he left the school carrying out his own investigation about the incident.
Sword Section instructors and students are sent out to look for Chi Ri Qing and are directed to contact the Administration Office as soon as they have news about him.

However, anyone who found Ri Qing decides to work with him as they uncover the brutal experiments and vicious abuses SFG is doing to the humankind.
Outside the campuses, they live as they are told to do so – be in the frontline and protect others. Like the swords that they hold, they stay silent until it’s time to strike. They believe that every attack they do is a step to defend the world from further destruction.

Swordsman Game Play
Swordsman is known as tanker of the team. If you are planning to train as swordsman, you are advised to prioritize enhancing your protective stats like Defense, Evasion, HP, Recovery, Resistance and Reduction. It should not be a challenge because swordsman is known for its inherent high VIT to HP, and DEX to Defense yields as compared to other classes.

Swordsman is also known as team protector and team leader. To easily execute these tasks, aside from good defense, you also need to have decent attack damage. Swordsman can be trained as POW, DEX, INT, or combination of the three. POW and DEX builds need Melee Stat while INT build needs Energy.

Carl also known as 01tordyak from Strife Server is a Level 292 Pow – Dex Swordsman from Cebu City, Philippines.

He’s been playing Ran Online since it opened in the Philippines; at first, mainly because most of his friends are playing the game but later on he find it interesting and challenging particularly when training to make his character strong.

Carl chose to play Swordsman because he enjoys playing tank. He loves that Swordsman has great compress and stun skills. He ultimately enjoys playing when he has to tank the toughest bosses in-game.

If you want to have a Swordsman build like 01tordyak, he suggests that you increase your character’s defense, evasion, accuracy, melee, and attack. You also have to practice your combo and improve your fast hand skill execution.

Featured Swordsman User: em_ar`ti@st

Mark, more popularly known in-game as em_ar`ti@st, is a Level 300 Pow-Dex-Int Swordsman from Mystic Peak of Abyss Server. He is from the Philippines but is now based in California, USA.

He started playing RAN Online (PH Server) during his first year in high school which is around 2006 or 2007. His friends influenced him to play RAN and he immediately liked it. When he moved to USA, he temporarily stopped playing but around 2013, he discovered RAN Online (GS). He said he usually tries to play a lot of other online games, but he always ends up going back to RAN ‘coz #RanIsLife!

Mark shared that since he started playing RAN, he has been using Swordsman. He tried to play other classes but Swordsman is still the best for him. He chose to stay loyal to this class even though a lot of other players gave up playing Swordie. He said he wants to prove them wrong and to answer to the challenge of playing an underdog class.

According to Mark, there are a lot of over-powered classes and he wants to win against them with just skills. He said it’s a bit stressful to study each class’ skills and how to counter them but when he finally wins, every effort is worth it.

What he really loves about Swordsman is its ability to tank and control enemy with stun, silence, and pull skills. He enjoys playing swordsman mainly because of the challenge and he wants players to recognize Swordsman class not only as a tanker but also a good character.

If anyone wants to train as Swordsman, here are few things Mark wants you to remember: make it a tanker with high Defense, balance the Reduction for melee, shooting, and energy, then add a little bit of Resistance to sustain INT damage.

You also need to increase your damage by having Attack and Melee stats with Critical Additional Damage, the latter is important because without this stat even maximum attack and melee will be nothing. You also need to have attack speed as you need to be lightning fast if you want to do Hitter/Tank build. Lastly, you need to PRACTICE.
Learn your move so you can easily defeat even the strongest class in the game.

Featured Swordsman User: `UL-04

Jerico or UL-04 in-game is a Level 294 Pow-Dex Swordsman from Mystic Peak of Havoc Server. He is from the Philippines but is currently staying in Qatar.

He can still be considered a newbie in this game as he started playing RAN Online only last October, 2017. Jerico said he plays this game as a way to relieve stress and lessen pressure he gets from work. RAN Online is his way to relax.

He is comfortable training as a Swordsman because in every online game he plays, he always chooses Swordsman. After all, this class has a high HP and defense abilities. Swordsman can tank and kill simultaneously and this made him accomplish his role easily.

Jerico’s advice to others who want to play Swordsman is to find the right skill combo that fits your character. This way you will be able to have an enjoyable fight against other over-powered classes.
